How to oil a sealed Xbox 360 slim fan!
Used my Wen (Dremel) to sand a hole in the back of where the access would have been in an unsealed fan. You can clearly see the shaft that will receive the oil.
Only put about a drop in, doesn't need a lot, work it in then cover with a piece of black electrical tape. Based on my research, sewing or clipper machine oil is best as it will last longer, so use something a little thicker than 3in1.
Good as new!

    Thanks for the tip. I used a 1mm drill bit in a pin vise (couple of twists with your fingers and your through the plastic with no damage). I used a light synthetic gear oil designed for model trains/cars. It safe for plastic and has a syringe style applicator so no need to drill a big hole.

    Your video was very helpful, but I found my own method to hold the side end of the spring in place. I rolled up a very small ball of kleenex and jammed it into the larger part of the side spring hole, keeping the tab at the smaller end so it wouldn't roll back to .where it was always drifting into. Then with a micro screwdriver I pried the other end of the spring outward while sliding it into place. Voila! Couldn't have done it without your explanation. Thank you!

    Thanks! My Oster 6081 toaster oven's timer was acting strange (stayed on all the time and the bell sounded funny). I opened it and couldn't find anything and the timer stopped working and it fell apart (that little arm thingy). So I ordered a new timer online (DKJ/1-60 timer if someone is interested) and it worked great except it didn't have a "stay on" setting like before. I looked online and it doesnt seem like they are available anymore. It's sealed with ultrasonic welding. The seal is created with pressure and vibration that "melts" the two housing parts together. I know, not helpful with charging, but just an FYI.

    In my opinion, Clarisonic do NOT seal this unit to make it waterproof,!!! They seal it so you CAN’T replace the batteries easily!! This sealing trick leaves folks with no choice but to buy another new one if they really love the device.....another sale - and money in Clarisonic’s bank account. If these units were repairable, Clarisonic would only make money from NEW customers - not also from customers who are FORCED into the situation of having to purchase a new whole package, at some considerable cost!!! I’d rather have a Clarisonic that was NOT rotally waterproof, fastened with fairly easy open screws, with a suction grip outer edge seam all around it - and with a simple clip in cradle where you could insert new batteries!! Let’s face it....have you REALLY got to use this while taking a shower? It just took too long using the Clarisonic body brush option, and I found it not very effective in body skin exfoliation. There are other great, simple and fast exfoliating methods for the shower. I used to (batteries now dead) use mine at my bathroom sink, looking through a mirror. Only the brush head got slightly wet, so there was absolutely no need for the “totally waterproof” feature that Clarisonic throw out. Wouldn’t YOU rather have an EASILY REPAIRABLE one - instead of a fully waterproof one??? I know I would. Rant over......

    well, sadly I'm not sure mine's going to work. the ticking part of it seems to have a mind of it's own. sometimes ticking and sometimes not. The problem I had before was that even when the timer was done, the oven would turn off but it would keep ticking, and because it was ticking, the knob was still turning and eventually it would turn to the "stay on" position causing the oven to turn back on! I checked the metal plate and turning it manually, it looks like it is making contact, and when it's not suppose to, it's not making contact. So doing what it's suppose to be doing. So, that has me confused.

    • @TheIVJackal
      @TheIVJackal 7 років тому

      Interesting, sorry it didn't quite work out. Try running the timer taken apart and see if something is misaligned, missing, etc... Almost sounds like something is broken if it never stops and just unwinds itself back to an ON position.

      so I got mine fixed! after accidentally allowing all the spinning parts to get lose and had to put them all back! ugh, that was the worst part of the whole deal. But, I did have to lift up the middle part of the metal piece so that it would push against that black part (you know the piece that fell off on your video) so that it would stop the timer going. Now it works great! Thanks!

      @@TheIVJackal So your fix that I did lasted a whole year! I just had to fix it again, and thankfully I remembered what to do once I got it all apart. However, I had to try 5 different times because that darn metal piece is so picky! Worst design ever. So, this last time I waiting to put the cover on to see how long it lasts. It will work several times and then the metal must wear down again. It's hard to get it bent enough so that there is good pressure, but not so much that it won't have connection. Thanks again for your video :) Oh, and your part is exactly the same part as my Farberware toaster oven. I'm wondering if we could just order that part only?

  • @crissy7399
    @crissy7399 7 років тому

    Thanks a bunch!! My Farberware oven timer would not stop so then it would never shut off and I would have to unplug it. SO annoying! So, I think, as you mentioned, the opposite occurs when the metal plate is too high, and I am right now about to lower it and hopefully it will do the trick!

    • @evilcowboy
      @evilcowboy 7 років тому

      I used 5 minute epoxy on plastic parts, I had a problem where mine would not turn on no matter what you did. I bypassed the oven door open switch and it is good now. So it is good to test that thing out cause the oven door retraction spring wears and the door don't have quite as much force holding it shut when that happens the switch is no longer pressed firmly and it will not work. this causes a condition where the oven is completely lacking any kind of power. Bypassing the switch allows it to work without sourcing new parts however it does make it to where the oven will stay on when you open the door.
